Description<\/h1>\n

Le b\u00e9b\u00e9 ara \u00e0 front rouge Ara rubrogenys<\/span>, aussi appel\u00e9 Ara \u00e0 joues rouges ou Ara de Lafresnaye, est un ara peu connu. Ce joli petit perroquet est tr\u00e8s amical et l'un des plus robustes de l'esp\u00e8ce. Bien qu'il ait \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crit pour la premi\u00e8re fois en 1847, il n'a v\u00e9ritablement attir\u00e9 l'attention des aviculteurs qu'apr\u00e8s la capture d'un sp\u00e9cimen en 1973. La raison la plus probable pour laquelle il n'est pas devenu commun est qu'on ne le trouve qu'\u00e0 un seul endroit, le petite vall\u00e9e de Cochabamba en Bolivie<\/a>.<\/p>\n

C'est le plus petit des grands aras. On pourrait presque le classer parmi les mini-aras, car il ne mesure que 60 cm de long. Les mini-aras peuvent atteindre environ 50 cm de long, et l'ara \u00e0 front rouge approche de peu. Outre sa petite taille, il partage avec les mini-aras une autre caract\u00e9ristique\u00a0: ses couleurs sont moins flamboyantes que celles des autres grands aras.<\/p>\n

Soins et alimentation<\/span><\/h2>\n

\u00c0 l'\u00e9tat sauvage, l'ara \u00e0 front rouge vit dans un environnement montagneux plut\u00f4t inhospitalier, o\u00f9 les broussailles d\u00e9sertiques s\u00e8ches c\u00e8dent la place \u00e0 des for\u00eats clairsem\u00e9es en altitude, et o\u00f9 l'eau est rare. On l'a observ\u00e9 se nourrissant de ma\u00efs et d'arachides dans de petites fermes locales, de fruits de cactus et de plusieurs fruits indig\u00e8nes. Il consomme \u00e9galement une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de graines, de noix, de fruits, de granul\u00e9s commerciaux, d'insectes et de larves.<\/p>\n
