Eclectus

Eclectus parrots are one of the most visually striking parrot species in the world, and the most dramatically sexually dimorphic: males are emerald green with bright orange beaks, females are deep scarlet red with black beaks. Until recently, they were thought to be two separate species.

Temperament

Eclectus are generally calmer than most parrots of similar size. They’re thoughtful rather than hyperactive, making them suitable for quieter households. They can be excellent talkers, though less prolific than Graupapageien oder Amazons.

Unique dietary needs

Eclectus have unusually long digestive tracts and are particularly sensitive to synthetic vitamins — a fresh, varied fruit and vegetable diet matters more for them than for most parrots. Ask us for specific care guidance.
